Description

In this week's episode I am talking to fellow dog lover Emily Thomas. I am so pleased to be able to share another form of exercise with you this week that you can enjoy with your pet dog. Emily talks to us about canicross, a type of exercise with your dog that sees your dog attached to you via a specialist belt for you, the runner; and a specialist harness and lead for the dog. We discuss what canicross is, the benefits to your physical and mental health and some of the things to look out for in your dog to ensure the run is safe. This such an interesting episode if you are wondering how to more effectively and safely include your dog with your running practice.

About Emily:
Emily Thomas has been a lifelong dog owner and in 2009 took up the sports of canicross and bikejor as a way of keeping her and her rescue dogs fit, healthy and sane! Once she discovered the benefits of the sport for both the body and mind of her and the dogs, she was hooked, and decided that her purpose in life was to help get more people and their dogs involved in canicross.

Since starting K9 Trail Time in 2012, Emily has helped hundreds of frustrated dog owners to navigate their way from complete beginner to group canicross run leader or coach, creating calmer, happier, household dogs and achieving fitness goals through running with dogs by providing specialist information, advice, training and dog sports equipment.

Emily’s passion is sharing her knowledge and experience of running with dogs with people who like her, were looking for a way to exercise high-energy dogs and build a better bond through activity.
