The news shocked the baseball world has the Cubs relieved manager David Ross of his duties and shockingky hired Craig Counsell to one of the largest manager contracts ever. Most people in baseball assumed the Mets were going to get Craig, but Jed Hoyer operated stealthily and under the radar and swept in and hired him away from the Mets. Reportedly, Counsell wanted to stay in the Midwest, where he likes living and where his kids are in school. This hiring signals to the baseball world that the Cubs are back and ready to spend.
