1. Research-Understanding the company's mission, values, culture, and recent news not only gives you a sense of whether the company is a fit for you, but it shows your interviewer that you're serious and invested.
2. Job Description-Understanding the job description. This isn't about just skimming it - it's about decoding it. Break it down. What skills are they looking for? What responsibilities will you have?
There are several job descriptions with the same title that can highlight different things.
HR Manager, for example:
Benefits, Payroll, Onboarding vs. Culture Employee relations, DEIB
Then, think about how your experience aligns with these. Be ready to provide examples.
3. Anticipating Questions-You can't predict everything, but you can certainly have a game plan. Look at the job requirements and prepare examples of how you've demonstrated these in your past roles.
4. Your Questions-The questions you ask can show your intelligence and enthusiasm. Ask about company culture, the team that you might be working with, or how success is measured in the role. It's your chance to flip the script and learn more about them.
5. Using LinkedIn-don't forget to tap into the power of social media for preparation. LinkedIn can be a goldmine of information about the company and your interviewer. Look for:
