According to the National Coalition of Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of some form of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. When you think of a survivor of domestic violence, you don't think of our service members. Individuals that are prepared to sacrifice all for their country but suffer in silence at the hands and emotions of their partner/spouse. Not wanting to risk their career, feeling they have nowhere to go they can spend years in an abusive relationship. Our guest this week, Jennifer Foxworthy, is one of these service members. In her own words she says, “I was better prepared to be a prisoner of war then to deal with domestic violence.” Today she will share her story with us; how she was able to not just survive but thrive. She now provides a platform where we can unite and tackle, not just domestic violence but the many issues that plague our communities.A retired US Navy veteran, Jennifer is the founder and CEO of Inspirationally Speaking, author of the "Tomorrow My Sunshine Will Come: Memoirs of Women Who Survived Domestic Violence" and TV show host.
