Scripture Text: Luke 1:46-55 NRSV

Today marks the beginning of the church season known as Advent from the Latin Adventus, meaning coming or arrival. Our Advent sermon series will focus on The Songs of Luke’s Gospel. The long-awaited Messiah is certainly something to sing about. First, we will look at Mary’s Song, otherwise known as The Magnificat. In today’s message, Pastor Wallace teaches us about the significance of Mary’s song for us today where there was darkness then, as now. There was still more waiting to be done, but what became clear is that God’s promises were coming true, and the Lord was entering lives in a way not known before. Mary’s proclamation is bold and radical. It calls for us to hold a dramatically different perspective of the world than is commonly the case and much needed today. Living as we are amid these difficult and uncertain days ahead; hope is in short supply. Nowwithstanding, the Songs of Mary gives us hope in Jesus Christ! Amen.
