As part of our Advent Sermon Series: The Songs of Luke’s Gospel, last week Pastor Wallace focused on Mary’s Song, The Magnificat, which she sung in response to the news that she was to be the mother of Jesus. Today, we will look at the Song of Zechariah. In his song, Zechariah declares to the people that despite the fact that their enemies are oppressing them, God is raising up a savior who will save them! In this message, Pastor Wallace reminds us like Zechariah, we are not just celebrating a birthday – we are celebrating the victory we have in all that Jesus has accomplished for us and what He still wants to accomplish for us as we live daily by faith in Him. Zechariah’s song is a great song of praise to a God who is merciful, who offers salvation, and who can redeem anyone from the most desperate situations. This Advent let us keep hope alive and walk into the way of peace and share that peace with each other and with those who as yet are outside the church. Amen.
