This crowd of tax collectors, sinners, pharisees and scribes have now heard two parables about the heart of God. They're all well aware of God's gracious feelings about sinners repenting of their sins. In today's passage Jesus is going to dive even deeper into His teaching on the heart of God. And in this parable, the whole audience is able to see themselves in the parable.
