For far too long, Republicans have portrayed themselves as more patriotic, more committed to national security than Democrats — while supporting an attempted coup, attacking human rights, and putting party loyalty over the country. Democrats, on the other hand, know that patriotism isn't about words, it's what you do. Nevertheless, Democrats should be promoting both their American pride and party pride. Ken and Gabby take a deep dive into this rebrand for Democrats as the party of America.
In their conversation, Ken touches on the importance of focusing on big issues rather than getting caught up in smaller day-to-day matters. Ken argues that branding is about addressing larger systemic problems and positioning Democrats as the party fighting for the people, in contrast to Republicans who consistently prioritize the demands of corporations and the wealthy.
Gabby brings up the issue of personal freedom. America stands for freedom, but MAGA Republicans want to take freedoms away from everyone who doesn’t look, live, and love like them. The only party dedicated to protecting the freedoms for all Americans, are Democrats. Democrats fight for the people. This should be the slogan for the party.
The Branding Democrats team discusses the importance of being assertive in politics and avoiding passive language when making statements. They highlight the need for Democrats to speak with passion and vigor, taking inspiration from figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), who effectively conveys her message with assertiveness. We urge Democrats to step up their messaging game, both in terms of branding and individual statements, to effectively convey their values and secure support in elections.
