On today’s episode of Raw Intentions, we sat down with Madi Nickens, creator & dreamer behind the famous trucker hat business, Hat’s by Madi, or @hatsbymadi on instagram. Madi & I met a few years ago through doing business together; I wanted to make hats for R&R, and had no idea where to start. A friend sent me her instagram, and from there, we never turned back. Now, 3 years later, we’ve created thousands of hats together, and I wouldn’t have that side of our business without her. Madi’s success as an entrepreneur has truly been a whirlwind. She was a Covid success story; she tells us about making hats out of boredom during the summer of 2020 for friends & family to wear on the water. The business almost created itself from there, as the demand for the trucker style baseball cap absolutely exploded. From learning wtf an invoice was, to signing MASSIVE clients, like Buckle, Madi takes us through it all. We talk about the learning curve of owning your own business, growing out of spaces and the scary leaps you take as a business owner, hiring employees, the struggle of work/life balance, the importance of influencer marketing, doing wholesale markets like Dallas & Atlanta, and what her plans are for the future.
