For many of us who experienced trauma, lying became a part of our daily lives. We used lying as a way to stay safe, protect others, and avoid shame. Just because we have gotten older doesn't mean those survival mechanisms automatically go away. As long as we see telling the truth as dangerous, we will continue to fall back into patterns of lying.
