The longer you're in business and the more visible you are online, the more likely you'll be the recipient of criticism. Want to know what I do? Listen to this podcast.
A quick summary:
- Ignore it
- Delete their comments
- Block the person
- Report them to LinkedIn (especially if their comment is unprofessional or a violation of LinkedIn's Terms of Service)
- Comment back to everyone else
- Acknowledge them and offer a direct way to contact you (email)
- Don't feed the trolls. Two responses, then ignore them.
- See a friend being attached? Support them. Defend them -- on THEIR posts, not on their attacker's.
- Let it go as quickly as you can. Energy moves in one direction.
- Use it as content in LinkedIn posts, like I did here: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/brendameller_me-responding-to-a-sales-pitch-for-a-product-activity-7122215949834805248-hyN1
