THE BRAND:
In celebration of her Panamanian/Jamaican heritage and her mother’s memory, TAIDE ARGELIA was established by designer Taide Broadbelt in 2018. Her love of feminine silhouettes, traveling, and experimenting with sustainable design techniques are at the core of every creation that is intended to magnify each unique woman's beauty. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Broadbelt’s collections aim to encourage environmentally friendly manufacturing practices that minimize consumerism. Her capsule collections are not mass produced, instead, they are crafted by a small group of professional tailors who specialize in traditional techniques and high-quality finishing. Furthermore, close relationships with artisans in San Blas, Panamá, add to the charm of each hand-crafted mola textile that is then made into beautiful one-of-a-kind TAIDE ARGELIA originals.
Taide taught Fashion Design and Construction, was the Creative Director of the Annual Senior Fashion show, as well as ran the afterschool modeling program at the High School of Fashion Industries in NYC. She now embarks on teaching these skills in a more relaxed atmosphere to kids and adults. Her classes will begin in early September, 2023.
