Hey everyone and welcome to another episode of the Vibrant Life Podcast, I am your host Matt Wheeler and today I get a chance to talk with Ron Hunter, the CEO of Randall House Publishing - the Creators of D6 curriculum, and discuss with him about the reality of why so many young people often leave the church and even the faith. This was one of my favorite conversations I have had on this podcast because we address something that is near and dear to my heart - Raising children to love Jesus in a culture that is geared towards pointing them away from Jesus.
I have three kiddos, a Freshman in high School, a 6th grader, and one in Pre-K. I know that each one of them will have different challenges and temptations they face and will face as they are navigating this crazy world.
In our conversation, we address the reality that the model of discipleship that most people have adopted over the last several decades is completely unbiblical and ineffective. Most of the time well meaning parents task the church to disciple their children. They drop them off at youth group, send them to the Kid’s ministry and hope that they will flourish in their faith.
The unfortunate reality is that all too often - they aren’t. Once they get that drivers license and a job - they are as good as gone from the church.
So in our conversation, we are going to see how we can turn that strategy upside down -and establish a plan for pointing our children and grandchildren to Jesus in a way that will better equip them to thrive in their faith as adults.
