I'm also a freelance writer. As well as a Freelance copywriter. Those two can at times go hand in hand. I work remotely. and live in rural Maine, about 15 minutes from the Canadian border.
Another fun fact about me! I'm a stay-at-home dad! So, I'm the one getting the kids on and off the bus. I'm the one picking them up when they need to come home sick from school. I'm originally from Massachusetts, where I lived a good chunk of my life. Officially making the move to Maine upon meeting my now wife and falling in love with the area. I was no stranger to the 4 seasons. But Up here it truly feels like I'm living in Mayberry from the Andy Griffith Show!
I come from a family background where we were primarily raised with an Italian-based foundation. My last name is deceitful because it's very French, and I actually am French... But As I said I was raised in an Italian family culture as were my siblings. One thing that was really drilled into you at a young age is... "You never go against the family!"
Kidding, Kidding. But seriously family was a very serious component of my upbringing. Now, I will say this is in all seriousness, though. According to stories passed down from my Nonna to my dad to me. My great, great uncle on my dad's side was in fact "Angelo the gentle Don Bruno." So.. although we weren't raised in a mafia family. it was near enough to my timeline that me and my siblings got a bit of the stereotypical Italian background and family traits.
My dad, when he was a kid, actually brushed shoulders with connected individuals when he was at a place in his young life where he was in a quasi-role of running the day-to-day operations of a convenience store. and enjoying some of the perks of doing right by the actual owner of the store, who not only paid tributes to connected members but suspiciously had an "accident" and broke his leg at one point. And I guess as a caveat, they knew my Nonna In her younger years and really took a liking to her. So, for lack of better words, he enjoyed some of the perks that came along with that level of respect.
Long story short, Life had other plans, and he ended up in a different job by the time he was a little bit older, where he met my mom.
People have said to me that my dad and I are very similar in the regard we are both "storytellers," and No, I don't mean in a fictitious or deceitful way. But instead in a manner of recounting life's stories and telling them to people. Sometimes multiple times. Because we forgot we told them to that person.
It's hard for me to tell stories and not have them associated with my family at large. They're just interconnected. And, oftentimes, very entertaining. But not nearly as engaging and entertaining as my dad's stories growing up as a kid
