Welcome to the Horror Agenda! This week we cover the 2025 film Heart Eyes, written by Phillip Murphy and Christoper Landon & Michael Kennedy and directed by Josh Ruben. We have a blast talking Valentine's Day and the twists and turns of this great recent film, and how we want more films playing with genre.
In this episode we reference an episode of Mostly Horror featuring director Josh Ruben talking about the film. We also talk about Josh's inspiration for the film and reference his Letterboxd list.
We jokingly reference a popular review on Letterboxd from CinemaFan007.
We also reference the Heart Eyes episode of Black Men Can't Jump [In Hollywood] podcast.
This week Victor recommends Sk8 the Infinity again, an anime about some skaters and a new guy who comes to town and takes up skateboarding.
On Shudder there are Guest Curators who recommend films and Heart Eyes director Josh Ruben has one and on it is Dark Night of the Scare Crow (1981) which Carlos recommends this week having seen it for the first time on that curated list. A disabled man is falsely accused of a crime, and vigilantes kill him. After they are acquitted something hunts them one by one.
Carlos also recommends On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. A novel that is a letter by a man written to his mother about his life, their life, family history, race, masculinity and more. It is so beautifully written.
