Ep 9
We're diving into one of my favorite regions in this Wine Region Mini Series and that is Chile!
Why is Chile one of my favorite wine regions? If you missed last week's episode you can catch it here, but Chilean wines are at the very beginning of Cork & Fizz! During the pandemic I hosted a virtual wine tasting for friends showcasing Chilean wines and that ended up sparking my idea for Cork & Fizz. So I thought what better way to kick off this Mini Series than with the wine region that started it all: Chile!
We are going to dive into the history of Chile including how France had such a big influence on Chilean wine–despite being founded by the Spanish. You are going to be amazed at how bad of a reputation Chile started with and how it fought its way to becoming the “Bordeaux of South America.”
I’m also jumping into how the geography and climate affect the wine. Did you know that Chile’s active volcanoes (can you guess how many they have!?) also affect the taste of the wine? Stay till the end where I share the five varietals (aka wines) I most recommend you try from Chile. Once you try these head on over to Instagram and DM me to let me know which is your favorite!
