In today’s episode Cooper & Ian will be discussing one of the United States most famous assassins, John Wilkes Booth. John Wilkes Booth was an American actor and Confederate sympathizer who is infamous for assassinating President Abraham Lincoln. On April 14, 1865, Booth shot President Lincoln at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C., during a performance of the play "Our American Cousin." Lincoln died the following day on April 15, 1865, making him the first American president to be assassinated.
John Wilkes Booth's assassination of President Lincoln had profound consequences for the United States, as it occurred just days after the Confederate surrender, effectively ending the Civil War. Booth's actions further deepened the wounds of the war and left an enduring mark on American history.
