Confession is a practice not often upheld today by most Christians, but it is meant to be one of the most freeing and live-giving habits in our discipleship journey.

Hi, I’m Quentin Bemis from Sherwood Oaks with the minute message.

Mike Cosper, in his book “Rhythms of Grace” talks about confession as a “threefold acknowledgement that the world is not the way it was meant to be, we as a church are not the way we were meant to be, and I am not the way I was meant to be.”

In our modern culture, this worldview seems judgmental and uncomfortable, but it gives us an honest, realistic perspective on humanity. We have all contributed to brokenness in some way.

Paul says in Romans 3 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

So ask yourself these questions today: where have I fallen short? How can I seek forgiveness from others, myself, and from God? How can I avoid this sin in the future?

Finally, free yourself from the burden of sin by trusting in Jesus’ work on the cross.
