About the Episode
Since Evelyn was two years old she had been dreaming of becoming a dentist. Envisioning the joy and healing she could bring to patients and an experience she loves so much. While pursuing her dream she found herself redirected home. Evelyn faced changes to her family and a deeply painful season of her life. As she poured her heart into her family she took steps toward her dream that looked very different than she imagined. Now a third year dental student she is months away from changing the lives she’s always dreamed she would. Each decision and crossroad she made has led her here and while it looks nothing like she imagined it is so much better than she hoped. Join us for a conversation about her dream being delayed and how the delay developed her into the woman she always knew she could be.

• Evelyn's passion for dentistry started at a young age- when she was working on her Dad’s teeth with chopsticks
• College presented unexpected challenges for Evelyn including having to move home during a time where her family needed her
• Working as a dental assistant reignited Evelyn's passion and strengthened her conviction that becoming a dentist was her dream
• Personal growth often comes from overcoming obstacles.
• It's not selfish to put yourself first in life decisions. In fact, it helps you to ensure you can love well and support your family long term.
• Things happen for a reason, leading to personal growth. You are who you are today because of your journey.
• It's important to push through discomfort to achieve your goals.
• You can't make a wrong decision if it's made for the right reasons.
• Relationships ebb and flow; it's not always 50-50. Evelyn and her husband navigate the ebbs and flows as they are both pursuing their dreams
• Self-advocacy is key to personal healing and growth.
