Welcome to the first-ever episode of the Make Time to Talk podcast with Elizabeth Mullenger.
In this episode, we have a wonderful discussion about our mental health journeys. We cover anxiety, BPD, eating disorders, and our childhoods, growing up in a world before the technological wave.
Have you ever heard of social prescribing? Elizabeth struggled with isolation and at first, didn’t realise free support was available on the NHS. During this episode, Elizabeth talks about her struggles and how different it could have been knowing support and help were available through social prescribing. Social prescribers focus on “what matters to me”. They take a holistic approach to people’s health and well-being. They connect people to community groups and statutory services for practical and emotional support. Elizabeth brings awareness to the National Health Service (NHS) in England which offers free support through Social Prescribing. This form of Universal Personalised Care, provides people with time while focusing on their health and well-being.
Another big subject throughout this episode is anxiety. Matt shares the advice given to him by his therapist as he elaborates on moments when Meta-Anxiety showed up in his life, with him and his kids at the park, or when on holiday with him and his family. It is a curious thing that Meta-Anxiety shows up in moments when we are supposed to be having fun and enjoying our lives without a care.
