Part of the motivation for bringing in the spouse perspective, is it's one not talked about nearly enough and the transition, especially if unexpected is HARD AF on them as well..."they just don't get it," is NOT an excuse we can keep using.
Another part came from an ah ha moment during another podcast interview I did, where we were discussing how the family unit is NOT a priority for MOST police departments and it needs to be. Take care of your people and remember they are humans and they in turn will take care of "you," the department and community.
