Description

Is weight gain in perimenopause really that bad?

If you're like many of my clients and women over 40 you'll say "absolutely, the worst thing ever!"

Why is that?
  • Is it because you have to buy new pants and you hate shopping?
  • Is it because you've been told that you'll get diabetes or heart disease because of weight gain?
  • Is it because you're worried that your spouse or significant other won't find you attractive anymore?
  • Or is it because the holidays are coming up and you'll have to endure seeing relatives that insist on making comments about how people look or what they're eating?

As women, once we hit midlife, the intensity of diet culture advice skyrockets. Is it helpful? Probably not.

This episode will encourage you to think about midlife weight gain and other perimenopause symptoms from a different, more compassionate perspective.

Because let's be honest, you've already done all the diet-wellness plans and they don't seem to work anymore. So, let's do different, not harder.

My guest is Dr. Caitlin O'Connor ND, a Naturopathic Doctor providing care for women and children in Denver, Colorado.  She pairs a philosophy of patient-centered, whole body, individualized care with an emphasis on nutrition, botanical medicine, and a balanced approach to joyful living.

Dr. Caitlin focuses on women's health by improving gut health, hormonal balance, optimal mood and energy, fertility, and postpartum.

Most recently, she created The Change: a podcast about perimenopause for people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.

In our conversation you'll learn:

  • Why weight gain happens as we age and why this isn't this necessarily a bad thing
