Thank you everyone for listening to this show today! Today I have the privaledge of interviewing my friends Candace and Kate. Candace is a strong willed child and grew up a pastors kid and missionary kid. She spent her upbringing steep in purity culture and and narcissistic abuse. Kate grew up in Appalachian Ohio, and had hold a unique perspective on the fundamental evangelical movement. Candace discusses how she married a man that was abusive and how growing up inside this cult conditioned her to neglect the warning signs and fall into the gender role she was destined to fulfill. She escaped the cult, divorced him, and had the bravery and boldness to come out. Kate noticed Candace's TikTok after Candace commented on a video, they started dating and now they are getting married in September.
Often times those that are raised inside of fundamentalist evangelicalism marry someone with the same background. Please listen to this unique perspective that Kate gives on Candace's healing journey from someone that did not grow up with the same faith background.
