Trump lawyer Alina Habba has now backed off a petition she filed with the courts that alleged an improper relationship (conflict of interest) between E. Jean Carroll's lawyer and the judge that oversaw the recent trial. Habba accused the judge and the lawyer of not disclosing that they had worked at the same law firm over 30 years ago, even though that knowledge was widely available. Habba was threatened with sanctions by Carroll's lawyers over the frivolous claim, and Habba immediately folded and withdrew.
Also, writer E. Jean Carroll is celebrating her second victory over Donald Trump in court, but it might not be the last time that she faces off against him in front of a jury. During interviews after the massive verdict, Carroll didn't rule out the possibility of suing Trump for a third time, but she did add that it would only happen if he continued to defame her. Given Trump's record on the matter, that seems like a pretty safe bet, as Farron explains.
And Marjorie Taylor Greene decided to pour a little salt onto Lauren Boebert's wounds this week when she told reporters that Boebert should be "very concerned" about her chances of winning in her new district. Greene was actually a little more reserved than usual, and she could have gone for the jugular since Boebert is having such a hard time gaining any traction in her new district. But that doesn't mean that Greene's words didn't sting Boebert.
Finally, ABC News reporters were able to talk to a group of Trump supporters (cult members) this week, and they asked them what it would take to prove to them that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden. The answer was absolutely nothing. These cult members say that there is no amount of evidence that would ever convince them that Trump lost that election, and that's just one of the many reasons why it is so hard to deal with these people. They deny basic realities and it is nearly impossible to reach people with that sort of mentality.
