Donald Trump was up at 2:30am ranting like a lunatic on Truth Social, and at one point he screamed online at the judge, telling him to "leave my children alone." This happened just hours before Donald Trump, Jr. was set to take the stand in the New York fraud trial, which is being followed up by his other two children testifying in coming days. Trump is trying to pretend that his children are victims, rather than willing accomplices.
Also, Republican Senator Josh Hawley has introduced a piece of legislation that would ban publicly-traded companies from spending money on politics, and Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell is absolutely furious. According to reports, McConnell snapped at Hawley during a Republican lunch meeting this week, and McConnell reminded Hawley that without big money donors they wouldn't have seats in the Senate. This is a clear admission that wealthy donors are buying seats for Republicans.
And Donald Trump suffered an absolute meltdown on Truth Social on Wednesday morning following devastating news that he got in court on Tuesday. Judge Arthur Engoron said that he is considering imposing additional fines against Trump, his children, and their company for profits that he says were obtained "illegally" due to fraudulently obtained loans. This process, disgorgement, could be the final nail in the Trump Organization coffin, and that sent Trump into panic mode.
Finally, Trump lawyer Alina Habba offered up what was supposed to be a comforting statement for Trump supporters, but it came across as an excuse as to why she's not doing a very good job as a lawyer. Habba told Newsmax that the Secret Service will keep Trump out of prison, and she admitted that this is what she tells people when they are "panicked" about Trump facing justice. But this also sounds like her backup plan for not caring about doing her job well, as she appears to think she has a Secret Service safety net.
