The American South is dominated by Republican politicians. In the past, the difference was only visible in the policy differences between Republicans and Democrats. But today, the Right has launched an assault on women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. So is it time for Democrats to leave the area in order to protect themselves?
And the cult of Donald Trump wields a lot of power today, both in the electorate and in Congress. But Trump is not immortal, and eventually he won't be around anymore. So will the cult just go to someone else, or will it fracture and dissipate? The answer might not be so simple, as political "cults" have managed to survive without a figurehead in the past.
Also, Fani Willis has already secured her first official "flipper" among the 19 co-defendants in the Georgia indictment, and reports suggest that she is offering lots of plea deals to people willing to take them. While some may be reluctant to accept these offers, others are more open to the idea in order to avoid a lengthy - and very expensive - criminal trial. All of this is bad news for Donald Trump, as he's the only person that has zero chance of being offered a deal.
And finally, a few weeks ago, a poll from The Washington Post and ABC News revealed that Donald Trump was beating President Biden by ten points among all voters, and by 20 points among young voters. But it turns out that the poll over-sampled Republicans (about 60% of all respondents) so the results shouldn't be trusted or believed. So can we even trust any polls coming out these days?
