Donald Trump's legal team got absolutely blasted by Judge Arthur Engoron this week as they attempted to delay the closing arguments in the fraud trial by arguing that Melania's mother's death is causing distress. The judge didn't buy that for one second (because Trump was still actively engaging in campaign activities, proving he has time) and the judge went further saying that Trump can't give his own closing statement after his lawyers refused to agree to conditions set out by the judge. Trump went ballistic and posted his anger for the world to see on Truth Social.
And Marjorie Taylor Greene has sent a criminal referral to the state government of Georgia, alleging that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has engaged in an "illegal" relationship with one of her prosecutors. Even if the affair allegations are true, it still has no bearing on the actual case or the indictments (which came from a grand jury, not the prosecutors.) But Greene is determined to protect Trump by any means necessary, and she doesn't care whose reputation she has to destroy to do it.
Also, during his immunity hearing this week, one of Donald Trump's lawyers was asked about a hypothetical situation where a president could be prosecuted if they ordered the military to murder one of the president's enemies or political rivals. That exchange has made headlines all week, but now a former Trump aide - Alyssa Farah Griffin - says that the former President would openly suggest, while president, that certain people should be murdered. So maybe this wasn't as hypothetical as everyone thought, as Farron explains.
Finally, during a Fox News town hall event this week, Donald Trump openly admitted that he received millions of dollars from foreign governments while president, but he swears that the amounts aren't really as bad as they seem. He also maintained that he was "doing services" for those countries, a line that could easily be taken to mean that he was getting kickbacks for his policy decisions, even if he meant that his "business" was doing services in those countries.
