Description

On this week's episode of the Having a Mom Moment podcast, Mr. Having a Mom Moment, my husband, Ryan, joins us for a special Father's Day Episode. We talk about the Self, Spouse, Spawn theory from his perspective, what it looks like, and how it works in our family.

Here are this episode's key takeaways:

1. Successful partnerships don't keep score, but instead help each other in balancing their needs.

2. Tend to "self" by building in space and time for decompression from the work day and to transition into the family portion of your day. This is especially important if you work from home as it can easily bleed into home life if you let it. Consider giving remote work its own dedicated space.

3. Communication is key, and that includes communicating your needs. Ask for help if you need it.

4. Try different strategies to make Self, Spouse, Spawn work for your family. It doesn't have to look the same from one family to the next, but the foundation of putting your oxygen mask on first is so important. Prioritizing yourself isn't always easy, but it is always worth it.

5. Remembering to take into account, "Will this matter tomorrow? In a week?" Often times, it's just not that serious.
