Description

How in the world are we ever going to feel self-fulfilled if our expectation of self care is a full spa day, a girls trip, or a long and uninturrupted bubble bath? Society and media have set us up to believe these are the only ways we can and should recharge.

Tackling daily self care can feel overwhelming if this is your expectation. Which leaves you feeling discouraged, exhausted, and burnt out. Self care is actually any of the things you do to make yourself a priority and take care of your physical, mental, and/or spiritual health.

It's so much more than just spa days, mama.

In fact, self care shouldn't look the exact same for everyone.  I usually ask my 1-1 clients to fill in the blank for this statement:
"I feel most fulfilled and prepared for the days/week ahead when I ______________."

Self care can still be a bubble bath. But it also can be a 15 minute workout. Drinking enough water. Cooking a meal at home with your husband while the kids run rampant in the house. Reading a personal development book. Reading a fictional book. Getting outside. Taking your vitamins. Taking a hot shower. Doing online therapy sessions. Inviting a friend over to have lunch.

Taking care of yourself allows you to show up better for everyone that depends on you...and for moms, that can be a lot of people.

You can't show up and take care of them if you don't take care of you first.
