Not only has she dominated dancefloors for more than a decade she also toured the world with her band Stink Mitt and is now officially a MOTHER FUCKEN DOCTOR!!!! It's no secret that nightlife has been hugely influential to me and it was I was so excited to take a walk down memory lane with Betti. She was the first DJ to play my song at the club, the first person to put me on guestlist, the first person I met who had made nightlife a full time job. Our conversation ended up being so much more than I expected. She opened up about her childhood and how a witch saved her from a teenage bully, how she accidentally became a DJ, the impact of a small, iconic queer club called LICK and the backstory to one of the biggest parties ever in Vancouver: Staked Tuesdays at Celebrities. We also take a look at the impact superstars like Courtney Love and the Spice Girls have on feminism, we compare Britney and Princess Diana's relationship with the media and fame in general and discuss whether or not its possible to become a global superstar and maintain a potent message.
