This week, the SpeaX crew was blessed to have Vere Hill join the program. Many in the Sarasota area already know Vere from his performances at various venues and events throughout the community. But before he even moved here, he went viral for his rendition of Tennessee Whiskey that he performed with friend of the show, Dovydas. To date, that video has 24 million views, and still rising. In fact, Dovydas told us we had to get him on the show…so we did. And by the way…that performance was completely random, and Vere had no idea that it would blow up the way it did. But make no mistake, Vere’s talent and ability were on display for audiences long before that chance encounter on St. Armands Circle.
Vere talks about his background, growing up in the Caribbean, and how he ultimately landed in Sarasota…after a stint in New Hampshire. He also shares his tips for aspiring artists, and the importance of mastering your craft and understanding your audience, especially in today’s environment. He also shares a bit of BIG news that’s on the horizon for him in the near future.
Of course, we bring the conversation back to Sarasota, and why Vere loves it so much. We get his thoughts on all those roundabouts, and put him through the Rapid Fire Gauntlet.
