All PR is not necessarily good PR. That’s what our guest, Candice McElyea, Founder and President of One Eight Oh PR, told us during our sit down with her on this week’s show. But what makes a great PR strategy for a company? You’ll have to tune into the full show to get those answers.
Candice began her professional journey as a television news reporter, but ended up being recruited by the DCCC to run for Congress as a democrat. In a twist, she ended up supporting her would-be Republican opponent, Katherine Harris during the election. But to back up a bit, Candice had a unique connection to the tragedy of September 11, the day we actually filmed this episode. She happened to be a reporter covering George W. Bush at Emma E. Booker Elementary the moment the president received the news about a plane striking one of the twin towers.
Today, Candice runs One Eight Oh PR, whose goal is to create messaging statements that tell their client’s stories through press releases, social media, video and online content. As always, we bring the conversation back to Sarasota to get her thoughts on roundabouts, and we put her through the Rapid Fire Gauntlet.
