In this episode Cindy Young continues to study 1st Nephi 1:16 with Quorra. But it seems like the same thing is repeated in this verse, which can be confusing sometimes. Repeated ideas are actually common in ancient writings like the Bible, however, and when repeated in reverse it is called a CHIASMUS. Finding chiasmus in The Book of Mormon can strengthen your testimony that this book is indeed ancient scripture, and watching for the repeated ideas can help you to understand what you read a little better.

Don't forget the parable of the snowball: listening to someone else talk about the gospel is like having snowballs thrown at you. Reading the scriptures is like making your own snowball. Taking the time to search, ponder, and pray about what you've read is like rolling the snowball around and around so that it grows and grows. So don't just listen to me - please go read for yourself so your knowledge and testimony can grow and grow!!
