The functional beverage market has exploded in recent years and few people understand its appeal - or its challenges - better than Kommunity Brew founder Mason Bagios. As Managing Director, Mason has helped build Kommunity Brew into a market leader whose kombucha, sparkling probiotics, health shots, and cold brew coffee and tea are stocked around Australia, from corner delis to Coles and Woolworths. Proving it is possible to balance the demands of an evolving market hungry for health and wellness support, with the complexities of growing a business in the FMCG space, Mason has been part of the Kommunity Brew success story for nearly 10 years.
Early in 2023, he led Kommunity Brew's blockbuster crowd-funded capital raise, securing more than half a million dollars in investment. He has also driven two strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of Melbourne's Cool Cool Beverage Company, setting the scene for a greater national profile for Kommunity Brew, along with an expanded distribution network and immediate export opportunities.
In 2024, Mason was a finalist on Gordon Ramsey's Food Stars Australia, an experience which has renewed his passion for thinking big and going bold. Mason's ability to read the market has been demonstrated time and time again, all while staying true to Kommunity Brew's ethos of delicious, low-sugar, gluten-free drinks that are helping Australia change its drinking culture.
