Hope is death for an athlete.

I never want my athletes to rely on hope to win a game. If they are “hoping”, they are focused on things we cannot control.

With that said, as the leader, I can be a dealer in hope to the team, meaning I can create an environment where they believe anything is possible. It’s a clear distinction - the responsibility to hope is on me, and the responsibility to take action and focus on what they can control is on them.

At the end of the day, I believe a hopeful environment is more powerful than a desperate environment.

I believe in you, you should too.

Share this episode with someone who needs someone who needs to believe in something rather than hope for it, and let others know that you believe in them when deserved. It’s a small thing we can all do to leave this place better than we found it.

I believe in YOU, your friends, your family, your team, and the power of belief in each other, and you should too.
