In one of my recent Ted Lasso inspired videos (which you can see on my social media), we discussed how Ted gave Greyhounds owner Rebecca forgiveness and blamed eloquently after she came clean about trying to sabotage the season. One of our viewers mentioned the bravery she showed in that moment in admitting her faults. I agreed with that comment.

Knowing that you have done something wrong and having the strength to genuinely apologize is extremely hard. Biologically, we are wired to lie - its a survival instinct. That’s also why its so hard to do this.

With that said, the power to do this comes from removing ego. Ego is that part if your mind that mediates between the conscious and unconscious - simply put, its the bullshit you tell yourself at times to justify certain behavior. Simply becoming aware of those voices in your head in a major step forward.

In this episode, Rebecca finally becomes aware that her actions were based on the voices of hate and vengeance, and that wasn’t who she wanted to be. She became aware and had the bravery to take action. Its a fantastic learning moment for all of us.

As always, be patient with your progress, but challenge yourself to practice.

I believe in you, you should too.

Share this episode with someone who needs to know they have the power to admit they're wrong and that you want to help them find the strength to apologize, and let others know that you believe in them when deserved. It’s a small thing we can all do to leave this place better than we found it.

I believe in YOU, your friends, your family, your team, and the power of belief in each other, and you should too.
