In this episode, I'm introducing you to my friend and fellow Scot and sword enthusiast Adam Buksh. We met whilst pointing sharp things at one another and the rest as they say is history.
For Adam, home is Scotland. He told me "I love being Scottish, sometimes. Depending on where you are, people are welcoming to others. I love that there is a charity called Refuweegee. It sums up how the nation treats those who seek shelter. You can still be your identity but will be integrated into society. It's also evident in the evolution of the South Side Asian accent. It's a beautiful blend of Asian inflection and colloquialisms with Glasgow Patter. Things like this are really magickal to me."
He is a mixed-race, Glasgow-based, actor, writer, voiceover artist and Continuity announcer for STV. He loves to tell other people's stories.
We talk about what it means to be Scottish, the power of increasing representation in the arts and what Adam would love to see happening in the industry.
