That someone turned out to be Michael Brecker.
He goes in depth about how Michael's mentorship influenced the rest of his career, including how he teaches his students and how he has been able to help out other musicians, not even just saxophonists!
His advice for anyone going through it: Listen to your body, and ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF!
