This week I'm joined by Sigourney aka Lawyer Bae to discuss everything from the juxtaposition of working in corporate America and having to “hide ourselves” and creative interests, to her experience as a queer black woman, and so much more.
After practicing law for years, Sigourney decided to resign to pursue a career in non-profit art after feeling like she was bursting at the seams to let her creativity out while practicing law.
Sigourney also has a love for pole dancing, where she gets to express her sensuality through movement. We discuss if it’s difficult to date both men and women and to be transparent about her poke dancing in fear of being fetishized and sexualized.
She also discussed her experience as a black queer woman and gave me clarity on what it means to be queer and not having to choose between being black and being queer.
