While awaiting trial for the boating accident that killed his friend Mallory Beach, a call comes into 9-1-1 that Paul Murdaugh and his mom, Maggie, were both fatally shot at their Moselle home. When the police arrive on the scene, they find a distraught Alex Murdaugh, Paul's dad, but it wouldn't be long before they realize that he is shedding crocodile tears. What follows is a strange turn of events that puts Alex at the center of not only the deaths of his wife and son but millions of dollars worth of financial fraud.
