Travis Wortham holds a Masters in Counseling and a B.A. in Political Science-International Affairs. He was also educated at Howard University, Washington, D.C.
Travis is a published author, book "Creating Monsters or Raising Champions," one of the most respected, recognized and decorated executives in the history of Texas Juvenile Justice, and holds the longest tenure of any administrator, having served over 33 years, with 25 in administration, plus 10 years mentoring. His awards transcends many different levels in the local Dallas community and around the state.
He has been presented with over 100 awards and proclamations to include the Governor of Texas, the Texas State Senate, Texas House of Representative, Dallas City Council, Dallas County Commissioner's Court, National N.A.A.C.P. Award, Turner Broadcasting, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and so many other boards and commissions around the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex and the state of Texas. For every position God blessed him to earn, he achieved the highest state award offered for that position. He has been honored for developing innovative programs in Juvenile Justice, for his work in local communities, and for his long history of activism in Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.
He is one of the most sought after speakers, trainers and consultants on "Youth Violence," to include "Bullying," "Family Services," and "Civil Rights & Civil Liberties." He is respected as an Expert Consultant, Advisor, and Trainer on Cultural Diversity and Mediating Race Relations, to include training entire city and county government employees.
He has appeared on National and local TV and radio on many topics, including a show with syndicated CBS Reporter Dan Rather, topic "Kids Who Kill" and participates in ongoing syndicated radio simulcast from major metropolitan cities across America addressing Youth Violence and Issues, including an article in USA Today, "Stop Violence in the Park," columnist Joyce King, who wrote the book on the horrific murder & dragging of James Byrd. He was a panelist for U.S. Department of Justice's Initiative on "Gang Violence in America." He was the facilitator for the late Rev. Dr. E.K. Bailey's Ministries on Race Relations called, "Breaking The Barriers, Binding The Love, & Building Racial Reconciliation." Mr. Wortham Co-Facilitated Dallas 1st and only "Multicultural Youth Summit," drawing over 1400 youth of all diversities from around the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex. He was also the Co-Facilitator of the seminar "Color, Culture & Consensus." He often speaks to youth groups on the Impact of Social Media and Pop Cultural Influences
Mr. Wortham's Juvenile Facility was accredited by the American Corrections Accreditation (ACA). He is Founder & Owner of "The WORTHAM Group," a consortium of licensed and certified consultants, Practitioners & Trainers.
