Headlines: nervous system regulation is about flexibility and elasticity, how to move through different states with more understanding and ease, not about avoiding or fearing dysregulation. PS co-regulation for the win.
When I first heard of the nervous system if felt disconnected to my life. I was in high school and most of the bodies systems were taught in a compartmentalised way that didn't feel like it helped me understand my body. (this is more about what I was going through than blaming teaching styles)…
Years on, when I began the journey into nutrition and physiology, I got hyper fixated on understanding everything I could about our bodies. How different nutrition's impacted us or how we could influence of V02 max. It was empowering but also didn't fully help me embrace the fluidly and ease.
Then in came learning to become a therapist. A journey that has taken me down many different learning paths....one of the most exciting is learning about the nervous system in a relatable, empowering and "how did I not know this before" kind of way!
- there is still so much to explore and I will be continually coming back to this topic throughout this series.
