Episode 22: Overwhelm

 

Most of us feel that overwhelm is out of our control. That it’s the result of demands that outstrip our capacity, resulting in stress, anxiety and feelings of failure. But what if I told you that there is one single cause to overwhelm and it also happens to be the one thing you can control? If you’ve been here a while, you know that with me the answer is almost always mind mastery. In today’s episode I discuss the root cause of overwhelm and walk you through my three tools for combatting it. I first detail my history with overwhelm as an overachieving child and adult. I then assert that there is a version of you that doesn’t succumb to overwhelm, and that this life begins with acknowledging our mind’s role in conjuring overwhelm itself. I expand on how and why the brain does this, and then give you tools for emotional resilience, acceptance and decisive decision making to combat overwhelm.
