Hello! I’m Abby Boxman LCSW.
In 2011, I experienced a
major life quake in losing my son Justin. This altered the trajectory of my
life. Determined to make positive impact on others, I decided to return to
college in 2013 at the age of 48. I completed my Master of Social Work,
MSW, in 2017 which further led me to become a Licensed Clinical social
Worker, LCSW, in the state of New Jersey.
Experiencing my own personal trauma and grief, had been the catalyst in
pursuing my passion of providing professional support and healing to my
clients. I have observed that all types of grief and losses and untreated
trauma can manifest into chronic mental health conditions lasting a
lifetime.
• As my new journey began, I had been an active advocate initiating
awareness, prevention and psycho-education on the opiate epidemic.
Supporting and lobbying for legislative change, locally and nationally,
offered me the opportunity to speak at venues addressing children,
adults and professionals throughout the state of New Jersey.
• My profession began working with individuals, children, families and
groups who were victims~survivors of domestic violence and sexual
assault.
• Founded and facilitated grief groups so the bereaved had a safe place to
share their story and their pain. Disenfranchised and complicated grief
experienced from substance use disorder SUD, is one of my specialties.
• As we all experienced Covid19, I worked diligently in a behavioral health
program. I provided tools and services to help reduce anxiety,
depression, isolation and hope in a world filled with fear, panic and
uncertainty.
My clinical approach and modalities I provide are determined by my
clients. Sandplay therapy and EMDR are most used, along with talk
therapy, mindfulness and CBT.
