Virginia wakes up and is greeted by her uncle providing her breakfast. With Andrew taking a seat by her bed, Virginia asks him some of her long-held questions—why her parents were killed; who were their murderers—and shares with him all that has taken place from the time they entered Alaythia.
Later, Virginia continues her studies with Daniel, focusing on a question she’s had for a long time: who is Soaring Eagle?
Though her new surroundings appear to provide an impenetrable wall of security, the city is soon approached by a former darkness that they thought to have escaped.
