Description

There is a saying: “When you meet one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.” No two children with autism are the same, but this is true of all children stresses this week’s guest, Jennifer Berzok.

Jennifer is the mother of an autistic son, an attorney, and government relations consultant who lobbies Congress on health policy issues; additionally, she provides training to grassroots advocates.

Jennifer talks about the experience of discovering her child was autistic, the support systems she and her husband leaned on, how every child is different and has their trajectory whether they’re on the spectrum or not, and that you can’t trust every doctor’s opinion about how things will be for your family and your child.

Jennifer stresses that it’s important to follow the lead of the child and embrace a form of happiness and future that may be very different from the one you originally imagined.

Guest: Jennifer Berzok, mom, attorney, and government relations consultant
