Each Sunday in our Grandview “children’s song”, we sing about God’s little children who love their Redeemer, they are bright gems for His crown. The gospel is the power of God that gathers and transforms human rubble into beautifully arrayed precious stones set in his royal crown. The glory of these human gems is that they manifest the love of God. The experience of such redeeming love causes us to love God, His people and His world. In the final verses of his epistle to the Roman church, the Apostle Paul speaks personally and tenderly about their mutual love, urging them to “make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification” (14:19). It should not surprise us that Satan seeks the opposite, preferring the crown of thorns over a crown of jewels. Aware of his schemes, the apostle calls us to be alert to the smooth-talking deceivers who are enemies of the gospel and the unity it creates. Today, we want to hear this warning so we can be vigilant and by the grace of God, be found faithful.
