Welcome back to Teaching with Valor, the podcast where we take deep dives into the most pressing topics in education, all with the goal of helping teachers become the best they can be—one lesson, one day at a time. I’m your host, Don Fessenden, and today, we’re diving into a subject that often gets overlooked: Supporting Gifted Students.
Gifted students are those who show exceptional ability or potential in one or more areas, whether it be academics, creativity, leadership, or even social intelligence. These students are capable of deep, abstract thought, often ahead of their peers in specific areas. But just because they’re advanced doesn’t mean they don’t need guidance, support, or careful attention. In fact, gifted students often need as much—if not more—support as their peers to reach their full potential.
