To be in the same situation as someone else, especially when it is a challenging or difficult one.
Examples:
1- My coworker and I were in the same boat when we both showed up late to the meeting—awkwardly trying to sneak in without anyone noticing.
2- During the Oscars, even Meryl Streep was in the same boat as the other nominees—nervous, hoping to hear her name called for the award.
