Read between the lines:
means to find the hidden or underlying meaning in what’s said or written, something that isn’t immediately obvious.
Examples:
1- Jessica’s email said she was “taking a break from work” after a stressful month. I could read between the lines—she was probably burnt out and needed time to recharge.
2- The restaurant review didn’t directly say the food was bad, but reading between the lines, you could tell the reviewer wasn’t impressed.
